ABOUT
Dan Willig is a multi-disciplinary artist working and living in New England and a graduate student and instructor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Dan’s art practice aims to understand the complex conditions of trauma, attachment, and the pace of contemporary life and their impact on the psyche. Rooted in representation, Dan’s compositions emphasize the estranged yet interwoven relationship between the individual and the environment. Working across multiple mediums, Dan constantly explores how to express the loneliness, estrangement, and melancholia of contemporary existence.
Coinciding with his art practice, Dan is a seasoned instructor who practices trauma-informed, mindful, and contemplative pedagogical approaches. Additionally, he is an experienced fabricator and builder and maintains a music and emergent writing practice.
